André Renoux (1939-2002) - L'air du Chasse

André Renoux made almost exclusively Parisian cityscapes. Only the architecture was important to him. People and heavy traffic are absent, so the composition always evokes a disquieting silence. His paintings (oil) are rare. His work has often appeared in print form (lithographs).

This shop that sells hunting paintings radiates a warm glow and contrasts nicely with the antique gate on the left-hand side.

This painting was auctioned in March 1911 at Christie's Amsterdam.
