Golden leafed wooden half-moon-looking mirror from Italy, dating to the early 20th century, handcrafted by Italian artisans, with a carved frame and dimensions 83 cm high by 60 cm wide external and 61 cm by 38 cm internal, 3.6 cm depth, and 5 kg weight, featuring an aged patina on the glass.
Description from the seller
Mid-20th-century gilded wooden wall mirror, handcrafted in Italy.
This splendid antique wall mirror, created entirely by hand by Italian master artisans, with the frame, a shaped profile and a surface rich with facets, is carved in solid wood and enhanced by gold leaf gilding that highlights its timeless elegance.
The glass features an original patina with natural oxidations typical of antique pieces, giving it an authentic and lived-in charm. On the back you can see two stamps impressed into the wood that attest to its artisanal origin and the high quality of the materials: one of the marks bears a name identifiable as the workshop or the artist’s signature, while the other guarantees the gilding work.
Attributable with good probability to the Tuscan or Venetian tradition, renowned for creating fine frames, the mirror stands out for the harmony of its shapes and the refinement of the hand-engraved decorative details.
Generous dimensions, perfect for enriching an entryway, a living room or a bedroom with style. Ideal in both classical contexts and as a contrasting element in modern environments.
Era estimated: first half of the 20th century
Conditions: excellent for its age, with normal wear of time.
Unique piece, authentic Italian craftsmanship.
