Medsan signs the original 40 x 40 cm artwork Bushido Arcade (武士道のアーケード) in 2026, a hand-signed oil and mixed-media painting on canvas, produced as an original in the Pop Art spirit with a red background and supplied with an authenticity certificate.
Description from the seller
Acrylic painting and mixed media on canvas mounted on a wooden frame - Hand-signed - 2026
Signed work by Medsan, an artist member of Atelier Joconde, known for her reinterpretations of cultural icons and bold stylistic fusions.
With this original square-format piece, Medsan delivers a new, decidedly modern and transgressive vision of traditional Japan. The painting features a classic Edo-era figure — a samurai with an intense, focused expression — reimagined with the passion of retro gaming culture and contemporary geek culture.
The visual and temporal contrast is striking: dressed in a majestic black kimono adorned with fierce tigers, our warrior has temporarily laid aside his katana — wisely resting on a display stand (katanakake) in the background — to engage in a completely different kind of combat. Sitting in pure tradition on a patterned cushion (zabuton), he avidly handles a wooden arcade stick whose buttons glow with neon colors, marking a bold pop rupture with classic martial imagery.
The impact of the canvas rests greatly on its solid red background—deep, powerful, and theatrical. Painted with acrylics and mixed media, the canvas features beautiful textural effects and benefits from a careful varnished finish. This strong aesthetic, inspired by Pop Art, blows up the contrasts between the samurai’s austerity and the luminous modernity of the arcade cabinet. In the upper right corner, the signature "Medsan" written in Japanese (katakana) seals this perfect fusion.
A hand-painted piece with extraordinary charisma. It is ideal for adding a colorful, urban, offbeat, and decidedly "gamer" touch to a design-forward interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around contemporary, living, and plural creation. Established as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collaborative creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward Pop Art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive path, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
