Description from the seller
Shigeru Hasegawa (Japan, 1963) worked in March and April 2025 in the Van GoghHuis guest studio. Hasegawa created here paintings based on the woodcuts by Utagawa Hiroshige, by whom Vincent van Gogh was also strongly inspired. This work is painted with oil paint on paper.
Shigeru Hasegawa completed his master's degree in 1988 at the Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music and moved to Germany in 1989. Later he studied at De Ateliers in Amsterdam, where Marlene Dumas also studied. Until 2004 he commuted between Japan and Europe. Recently he exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and in 2026 at the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art in Nagoya.
