Its roots trace back to June 1940, before the United States entered World War II: when the United Kingdom stood alone against the Nazi titan.
Germany launched waves of air raids on densely populated cities like London: the RAF (Royal Air Force) defended its compatriots as they sought shelter in basements and shelters.

Hans Wilsdorf (founder of Rolex) created the 'Air' watch line to honor the heroism of the pilots. The Air-King is the last remaining model in the series.
