Description from the seller
A Delft polychrome plate, signed by Zacharias Dextra, owner of the Delft porcelain works 'De Drie posteleyne Astonne' from 1721–1757. The plate has a diameter of 23 cm and a depth of 2 cm.
The beautiful decoration is derived from Oriental porcelain. We see centrally a pentagonal field with rounded corners. In the center a symmetrically arranged bouquet of flowers in red, orange, manganese, green and blue, and around it five flaring panels with an accolade-shaped upper edge. The flower baskets inside are non-symmetrical, cut, and placed toward the lower left, which gives a dynamic effect. Along the outer side, between the panels, are red-colored foliate motifs. The interspaces are filled light blue with dark blue curling lines and borders.
On the reverse there is no stand ring, the underside glaze bears the signature D/10 and six four-point figures. Six (!) pin marks from the pottery kiln are visible, probably from multiple firings in the kiln. Underglaze marked in blue with D/10.
The plate is not restored or cracked. However, there are glaze chips at the rim, of varying sizes (see the photos), and a small chip out of the ceramic. The decoration still presents itself beautifully.
There is a similar plate in Museum Arnhem, code AB 8665b.
