Description from the seller
STEYR-DAIMLER-PUCH VENT NOIR – 1978 – SHIMANO DURA-ACE BLACK CRANE EDITION – 10.2 KG
We have the honor to present one of the most emblematic pieces in the history of Austrian cycling: the 1978 Puch Vent Noir. This model embodies the golden age of Steyr-Daimler-Puch manufacture, a time when precision engineering and aesthetics met to create exceptional racing machines.
The "Vent Noir" owes its name to its legendary smoked black chrome finish, a complex surface-treatment technique that offers a visual depth far richer than mere black paint. This frame is built from Reynolds 531 tubes, the world reference for lightness and responsiveness in competition bikes of that era.
Technical details and components:
This bike stands out for its remarkable condition and top-tier "full black" setup, highly sought after by collectors:
frame and fork: Reynolds 531 steel, original black chrome finish with hand brazed joints. Size 64 cm (center-to-top), ideal for tall riders or a prestigious display piece.
groupet complete: Shimano Dura-Ace "black edition". This groupset is an absolute rarity, notably the Dura-Ace Crane black rear derailleur, famous for its mechanical precision and timeless design.
overall cockpit: SR Forged stem paired with a World Champion engraved handlebar, offering perfect ergonomics and an authentic style.
crankset and brakes: Shimano Dura-Ace black, retaining their characteristic dark anodization.
elect: rims Mavic M3CD with a dark profile, mounted on highly precise Shimano Dura-Ace hubs.
saddle: San Marco Corsaire 313 vintage saddle, adding the final touch of Italian prestige.
Condition:
The bike has been meticulously preserved, inspected, and prepared. It displays an authentic patina that speaks to its history without compromising its structural integrity. The mechanical components are smooth and ready to ride. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Vent Noir in such a coherent and prestigious configuration.
Shipping and logistics:
The bike will be carefully packed in a reinforced cardboard box specifically designed to protect this collectible piece. The indicated shipping costs of €300 are a provisional estimate. We formally commit, after sale, that if the actual shipping cost (including insurance and professional packaging) turns out to be lower than the amount paid by the buyer, we will refund the difference on simple request.
A centerpiece for any vintage bicycle collector or aficionado of exceptional technical objects.
