Description from the seller

Objets de Tabletterie et Jeux de Société
Superbe ensemble de 3 boîtes de jeux, accompagnées de leurs accessoires. Des pièces de caractère alliant finesse du travail du bois et histoire de France.

1- Card box in Mother-of-Pearl Marquetry and Precious Woods
This rectangular box is a remarkable piece of inlay work, probably Art Deco or mid-20th century.
• Decoration: The lid adorned with a complex geometric marquetry of iridescent mother-of-pearl triangles and contrasting wood species.
• Interior: Partitioned in solid wood (likely mahogany) to hold two decks of cards.
• Included accessories: Two complete 54-card decks from the famous maison B.P. Grimaud (Paris), collection "Rois de France".
• Card details: Historic portraits of Marguerite de Valois (Queen of Clubs) and Louis XIV (King of Hearts). The cards are presented in their original cases under cellophane.

2- Dice Box in Thuya Burl and Brass
A square-shaped box with exceptional grain, typical of luxury objects from the late 19th century
• Material: Entirely made in thuya burl (or amboyna burl), offering natural speckled patterns with great depth.
• Finish: Hinges and opening lip in gilt brass.
• Included accessories: Pair of dice in green marbled resin.

3- Napoleon III Era Work Box
Elegant rectangular box with beveled sections in veneer of precious woods (probably rosewood and pau wood). The lid features a rich marquetry decoration of "butterfly wings" within framing fillets, centered by a rocaille brass cartouche (monogram-free).
The opening is operated by a push-button mechanism on the front. The interior, stained mahogany, is partitioned into three compartments. The edges are accented by metal protective strips.
Era: Second half of the 19th century (ca. 1870).
Condition:
• Good overall condition of the marquetry and varnish.
• Push-button mechanism.
• Minor veneer lifts and wear consistent with age.
• Overall in good usable condition.
Dimension 20.5 cm x 13.5 x 5
