Constant Permeke (Antwerp, 31 July 1886 – Ostend, 4 January 1952) was a Belgian Expressionist painter and sculptor. He is regarded as the leading representative of Flemish Expressionism. He is best known for his strong and solemn depictions of sailors and fishermen with their wives.
