Description from the seller
Antique "Old Paris" Limoges Porcelain Plates by H. Béziat – Tiffany Blue & Gilded Monogram – Late 19th Century
A stunning and rare set of French porcelain dinner/dessert plates from the late 19th century. These plates are a prime example of "Vieux Paris" (Old Paris) porcelain, featuring a sophisticated "Tiffany Blue" (bleu céleste) border and exquisite hand-painted gilded monograms at the center.
Design & Provenance:
The plates bear the prestigious red oval stamp on the reverse: "H. BEZIAT, PARIS, 54 Rue Paradis Poissonnière". Henri Béziat (born 1831) was a renowned Parisian "marchand-faiencier" and gilder located on the famous Rue de Paradis, the historical heart of the French porcelain trade.
The presence of a custom gilded monogram indicates that this set was a bespoke commission for an aristocratic or wealthy bourgeois family, making it a unique piece of history. The vibrant turquoise border is accented with fine gold bands, showcasing the high-quality craftsmanship of Béziat’s workshop.
