Heinz Fischer-Roloff (1923–2004), a 1952 oil on fiberboard painting titled Combo in the Moderne style from Germany, original edition, measuring about 90 by 36 cm with frame, signed and sold with frame, weight around 1950 g, in good condition.
Description from the seller
A characteristic early work by the German artist Heinz Fischer-Roloff (1923–2004) from 1952. Titled “Combo,” the painting presents an abstracted depiction of a jazz ensemble, reduced to clear forms, rhythmic lines, and a harmoniously coordinated color palette. The composition conveys movement, musicality, and the Fischer-Roloff hallmark combination of structure and free gesture.
The reverse side bears several handwritten notes by the artist, including name, address, title, and year, which further underscore authenticity. Additionally, the printed studio number “52 001” is located there, presumably applied with an adjustable numbering stamp. The combination of year and the sequential number 001 suggests that this is very likely one of the artist’s earliest internally registered works from 1952.
In addition, a later artist’s catalog from the 1980s is included (“The Poetry of Collage,” Artists of the Present, Volume 8), which presents another phase of Fischer-Roloff’s work and thus provides expanded insight into the development of his oeuvre.
