Rare early Omega pocket watch chronograph “Vitesse à l’Heure” – about 1910–1920
This impressive specimen features a large 50 mm case as well as a beautiful original white enamel dial with elegant Breguet numerals and outer tachymeter scale, inscribed with:
« VITESSE À L’HEURE – BASE 200 M »
This early tachymeter scale allowed speed measurements over a distance of 200 metres and was at the time used for automobile racing, sports events and technical measurements.
Inside works a classic early Omega column-wheel chronograph movement, one of the high-quality early Omega chronograph calibers of this era, with the following functions:
• Central chronograph seconds
• Minute counter
• Start / Stop / Reset
• purely mechanical column-wheel control
The chronograph function operates flawlessly: Start, Stop and Reset function correctly.
