AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A big and heavy Swedish art glass vase in the sommerso technique, with an amethyst core cased in a thick layer of clear crystal, with the entire exterior hand-faceted in a honeycomb pattern.
The faceting breaks the light through the colored center in every direction.
This is a big piece, it is larger and heavier than most vases in this style.

The vase is unsigned. Strömbergshyttan was one of the leading Swedish glassworks producing faceted amethyst sommerso pieces in this exact style during the 1950s and 1960s, with designers Asta Strömberg and Gunnar Nylund as the main glass artists.

There is one very small chip on the rim, approximately 2 mm, - very small, see close-up photos. Otherwise, the case is in a wonderful condition with no cracks or repairs.

Height: 22.3 cm
Diameter: 11 cm
Weight: 1347 g
