Rainer Fetting - Vincent with truck

The German artist Rainer Fetting creates paintings and sculptures. In the 1970s, Fetting studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and was co-founder of Galerie am Moritzplatz. Since the 1970s he has exhibited his work at many exhibitions, including the Tate Gallery in London, the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York and San Francisco. Fetting cites Van Gogh and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner as his creative influences. Just like Van Gogh, Fetting's colors and lines are vibrant and expressive. He admired not only Van Gogh's art, but also identified with his character. In this work he depicts Van Gogh in motion, inspired by the original 'Painter on his Way to Tarascon' by Van Gogh. Van Gogh AiR Charity Auction

The Van Gogh House invites artists to come and work for a long period in Vincent's birthplace Zundert. They literally step in Van Gogh's footsteps here, and that yields remarkable results. The artists donate works that are auctioned for the benefit of the Van Gogh artist-in-residence program.
