Impactite Babaudus meteorite in tranche form from Rochechouart, France, weighing 200 g and measuring 11 × 7 × 1 cm.
Description from the seller
An impactite is a terrestrial rock modified by the impact of a sizable meteorite. These rocks contain an agglomeration of dust fallout and fragment debris, forming what is called a breccia. The Rochechouart impactites were formed following the impact of a meteorite about 207 million years ago in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, in the Rochechouart district. The impact crater of the Rochechouart meteorite is called an astrobleme because it is no longer visible due to erosion.
There are several types of breccias:
Babaudus-type breccias, rich in glass with a fluidal texture and in vesicles, are found only at the center of the astrobleme.
These breccias are contaminated with chromium, nickel and cobalt, metals largely derived from the asteroid.
You can buy with complete confidence.
My name is Jean Redelsperger; I have been selling meteorites for 15 years to museums, scientists, and collectors around the world.
The impactite is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
