Max Klinger was a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor. He studied at the Badische Kunstschule in Karlsruhe, then at the Academy of the Arts in Berlin. He left behind an extensive body of paintings and drawings.
Represented in numerous museums and major collections.

The drawing comes from the estate of a German female collector in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria, who lived in New York until 2014.
