Polish posters have become iconic examples of mid-century graphic design, even though they are original editions commissioned by the communist state to promote cultural events, being the artists’ only means of expression of the era, a sublime protest against the regime shines through. Hand-printed, very often the color tones varied in intensity.
This poster comes from a small Venice gallery, “centro posters and gadgets,” closed in 1971, which mainly dealt with posters and pop art.
