Oil painting by the Spanish post-impressionist school, titled “Fleurs devant la montagne,” dating to 1970–1980, origin Spain, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
An attractive landscape painting executed with an expressive, tactile facture, in which the artist depicts a mountainous view of great atmospheric force. The composition is organized by two large rocky masses on the sides that open the scene toward a luminous valley at the center, creating a sense of depth and spatial breadth.
The work stands out for its energetic, loose, and impasted brushwork, applied through patches and color drag-marks that add texture and dynamism to the whole. The treatment of the mountains and sky moves away from meticulous representation to focus on capturing light, material, and the overall impression of the landscape. The palette combines blues, grays, greens, ochres, and whites, with brighter notes of reds, pinks, and yellows in the lower area, where floral presence introduces a very decorative chromatic contrast.
From a stylistic point of view, the work may be situated within an expressionist and post-impressionist line of landscape painting, with special interest in pictorial materiality, the vibrancy of color, and the atmospheric construction of space. The fragmented brushwork and the free use of impasto give the landscape a modern, intense, and visually engaging reading.
The floral foreground, treated with quick, colorful touches, reinforces the sense of living nature and guides the eye toward the valley's depth. The whole offers an image of strong decorative presence, balancing expressive force, luminosity, and landscape sensitivity.
An interesting work for its material execution, its chromatic richness, and its evocative character, suitable for collectors of Spanish landscape painting of the 20th century.
It is framed. The frame is sent as a gift and is not part of the valuation of the work.
