Antique Polychrome Figure "Sacred Heart of Jesus" – Circa 1900
A beautifully preserved religious devotional statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This characterful statue is a classic example of church art from the late 19th or early 20th century.
The statue shows Christ in a stately pose, pointing to his Sacred Heart – the symbol of divine love and compassion. The execution is particularly detailed, especially in the facial expression and the refined drapery of the garment. The warm color scheme in deep red and beige is accentuated by the original gold-colored (gilded) details and subtle floral motifs on the mantle.
Period: Circa 1890 - 1920 (Belle Époque).
Material: Polychromed painted plaster on a classic black base.
Style: French-Belgian school / Provincial religious antique.
Condition: In good antique condition. The colors remain bright and the polychromy shows the age-typical light patina, which contributes to the authentic appearance.
