Description from the seller
“I do not paint scenes. I sculpt sensations.”
MARCEAU was born in France in 1981. Self-taught, far from any academy or institution, he spends years learning alone how to tame the material.
His obsession: to give life to what is flat. For him, a canvas cannot lie — it must be felt before it is even looked at. This is how he developed his signature technique: successive layers of oil paint applied with a knife, which literally make the scene spring out of the frame in relief.
His subjects are always in motion — a surfer swallowed by a white wave, a skier carving an immaculate slope, a golfer lost in an infinitely green expanse. The figure is small, almost fragile. Nature, on the other hand, is monumental and textured. It is this contrast that defines MARCEAU’s signature: the human against the elemental.
Quiet and self-taught, MARCEAU does not seek to imitate the masters. He seeks to touch — in both the literal and figurative senses. Each work is unique and impossible to reproduce exactly, because matter itself never lies.
Note:
This work is sold on canvas alone, without a frame or stretcher. Ready to be mounted or framed according to your preferences.
Colors may vary slightly from the photos depending on your screen settings, your phone’s calibration, and the lighting conditions at the time the photo was taken.
The work is shipped rolled in a protective rigid tube.
