Description from the seller

David Law

Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

Series - Faces in Transition

This series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the 1950s/60s pin-up aesthetics through a modern visual approach. Each work is created using current digital tools, then reworked to incorporate a pictorial matter inspired by oil painting. Elements of pop art and street art — drips, textures and collages — enrich the composition while preserving legibility of the subject. The whole creates a balance between classical elegance and contemporary visual energy, capturing moments of life that are both light and expressive.

Edition & Production

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Print on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary rendering.

Biography

Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
