Description from the seller

David Law

Artiste Photographe – Créateur d’images contemporaines

Photographer artist multidisciplinary, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known through a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This research around gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

Series - Faces in Transition

This series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the pin-up aesthetics of the 50s/60s through a modern visual approach. Each work is created using current digital tools, then reworked to incorporate a painterly material inspired by oil painting. Elements of pop art and street art — drips, textures and collages — enrich the composition while preserving the legibility of the subject. The whole creates a balance between classical elegance and contemporary visual energy, capturing moments of life that are both light and expressive.

Édition & Fabrication

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 copies numbered + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated back-mounting. Print on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great stability over time, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musician’s practice including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer and guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
