Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence, and the perception of imagery in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extended this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models gain a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction. From a distance, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close, it uncovers a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth treatment is carried out on colors, light, and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent way.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops a writer-artist and musician career, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
