Description from the seller
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence, and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to display mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021.
Later captivated by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate subjects acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary re-reading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop-art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Extensive work is carried out on colors, light, and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Path / Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer of choice for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops a writer-musician body of work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. As a singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
