Description from the seller
Pope (1985) - "Aurora NotArt" - 5/20
When art dissolves into business.
Following the success of the Aurora Borealis series, Original Fake Contrefaction, Aurora Authentic Fake, Aurora Get Rich… AMA continues its ironic exploration of luxury codes, perceived value, and the slogans that govern our era.
“Aurora NotArt” – Not Art, Only Business condenses the era into three simple, almost cynical words, engraved like an advertising truth… and yet transformed into a luminous, chrome, hypnotic object, at the border of a manifesto.
On the base, the message is blunt:
NOT ART.
And right after, without unnecessary poetry, the sentence completes:
ONLY / BUSINESS.
A cold, assumed statement.
A punchline that sounds like a rule of the modern game: this is not art… this is business.
The day: a mirrored, brilliant, almost clinical icon.
The night: a northern lights of reflections and splinters, immersive, captivating, almost “too beautiful” to be innocent.
A deliberate contrast: the spectacle on one side, the truth on the other.
Edition limited to 20 copies for 2025, signed, numbered and delivered with AMA certificate of authenticity.
Fast and secure shipping (bubble wrap, tissue paper, reinforced carton) with signature on delivery.
Features:
- 7 luminous colors
- 3 diffusion modes (static, fading transitions, simple transitions)
- Power supply via USB cord with switch (included)
- Height: 20 cm
- Width: 9 cm
- Depth: 9 cm
Who is Pope?
Pope, cofounder of the AMA collective, develops a singular artistic universe carried by a practice of visual arts since childhood, a high standard of detail and meticulous visual research. Through sculptures, paintings and installations, he draws inspiration from photography, urban landscapes and everyday scenes, with a sensitive and amazed gaze, attentive to both the simplicity and the complexity of the world around him.
Pope mainly draws inspiration from the world around him but also from currents of renowned artists such as Banksy, Keith Haring, Koons, Orlinski, Takashi, Fred Allart, Shepard Fairey, Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Richard Hamilton, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Alec Monopoly, KAWS, Pantone, Mr. Brainwash, Blek le Rat, to name just a few.
Whether as a gift, a memory, or your personal collection of contemporary art, you will easily find your favorite piece thanks to the diversity of our works. Indeed, Pope pursues his urban art passion through street art (streetart) and pop art (popart) creations (limited edition or not), addressing a wide range of themes such as cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum), the dollar, money, gold, wealth, the sex industry, drug harms, luxury and high fashion brands, the world of comics and video games, the pharmaceutical industry and medicines, recycling and upcycling, and products of the agri-food and fashion industries (sport, sneakers…).
Brands guide our choices and often our lives without us realizing it. Aware of this impact, Pope enjoys slyly misappropriating labels such as Louis Vuitton (LV), Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Prada, Gucci, Rolex, Yves Saint Laurent (YSL), Supreme, Obey, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG, Mercedes, Nike (Air Jordan), Adidas (Stan Smith), Coca Cola, Pepsi, Marvel and Avengers (Batman, Joker, Superman…), Disney (Mickey, Scrooge McDuck...), Nintendo, Sega, Tintin, Lego, Pokemon, Vans and many more.
Dear bidders, our collective makes every effort to ensure that all information necessary to appreciate the lot sold is clearly detailed in the listing: dimensions, weight, description, and photos… After the sale, no unfounded claims will be entertained. Thank you for your understanding.
