Description from the seller
Antique bronze mortar and pestle dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
This compact and characterful piece was traditionally used in both domestic kitchens and apothecaries for grinding herbs, spices, and medicinal ingredients. The mortar features a classic flared bell-shaped form with a circular foot and a hand-finished decorative relief exterior.
The interior clearly shows authentic grinding wear, confirming real historical use rather than purely decorative production. The surface displays a warm, natural patina developed over time, enhancing its antique appeal.
The pestle is original to the piece, with a turned shape and matching aged surface.
Good antique condition with visible wear and patina consistent with age and use. No cracks or repairs observed.
