Description from the seller
The Last Adventures of Gédéon, by Benjamin Rabier
The Gédéon series, created in 1923, features a domestic duck with yellow plumage, born in the yard of a farm, endowed with a long neck that distinguishes him from other ducks. He is accompanied in his early adventures by Roudoudou, a rabbit, and Alfred, a crocodile, before becoming the sole protagonist of the series.
The title of this album is doubly symbolic: Benjamin Rabier, born December 30, 1864, died October 10, 1939, the same year as the publication, making this volume a true artistic testament.
Considered one of the greatest European animal illustrators, Rabier had become famous notably thanks to the drawing of The Laughing Cow and, above all, to the duck Gédéon, whose stories were published between 1923 and 1939 in sixteen albums.
1948, 24 x 32 cm, 48 pages. Signs of rubbing, abrasions and stains on the cover. Some tears and missing pieces on the back endpaper. Stains on the title page, page 3 and page 39.
