Rafa López presents an original, unique mixed-media painting titled BERLIN BETWEEN WALLS - XL, created in the 2010–2020 period, signed and in excellent condition, on canvas (73 x 97 cm when stretched) using acrylic, spray, marker and ink, depicting contemporary popular culture and heritage with multicolor tones and a Neo-Expressionist, Bad Painting influence, shipped unframed rolled and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
Original, unique work. Mixed media (acrylic, spray, marker, ink) on canvas.
A painting worked from visceral energy and urban rhythm. An immersion into historical memory and contemporary energy.
With clear influences from 1980s Neo-Expressionism and the force of the “Bad Painting,” "BERLIN BETWEEN WALLS" tells the story of a scarred city. The canvas acts as a wall where the past and present coexist: the solemnity of the Brandenburg Gate beside the heavy machinery of past warfare; urban fauna versus the human historical figure. It is a dialogue between what was destroyed and what has been reborn.
Gestural, intuitive painting that does not seek academic correctness but expressive truth. The artist takes advantage of accident, quick strokes, and color saturation to convey the noise and vitality of the modern metropolis. A horror vacui that traps the viewer and compels them to explore every corner of the canvas.
The work is delivered unstretched (professional packaging, rolled in a sturdy transport tube) to ensure its safety and reduce shipping costs. Your local framer should re-stretch it and mount it on a standard wooden stretcher frame.
The indicated measurements (73x97 cm) are for the painting when stretched and mounted on a frame. The actual canvas dimensions are larger to allow lateral mounting (painted edges).
Hand-signed on the lower left edge and on the back. Includes a certificate of authenticity from the artist.
