AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Original unique 1/1 work by TOONS titled Pinocchio – Poker Face, created in 2026 on two authentic US $1 bills joined together, hand-painted in acrylic and marker. Signed on the back. France, 2026. Sold directly by the artist.

Artwork number: PF-JH-226-A-02

Story of the work

Facing the table, cards in hand, Pinocchio wears a controlled smile.
A knowing wink… but his nose, unlike him, never lies.

In this poker-inspired scene, the lie becomes strategy… except for the one who cannot cheat without betraying himself.

For here, Pinocchio is playing an impossible hand:
every bluff condemns him.

The more he tries to win, the more the truth asserts itself.
The more he plays, the more he loses control.

Behind its playful and colorful surface, the work reveals a deeper tension:
in games as in life, everyone can lie… except the one who pays the price immediately.

The dollar bill, universal symbol of value, becomes a trap:
a space where victory depends on deceit; but for Pinocchio, the game is lost from the start.

Artistic intention

With this work, TOONS overturns a universal childhood figure to reveal an inexorable mechanism: that of the game, bluffing and its limits.

Pinocchio embodies here a fundamental contradiction:
playing to win… while being unable to lie without consequence.

A reflection on control, illusion and the invisible rules that govern our value systems.
