Description from the seller
This figurative work plunges us into an intimate and mysterious atmosphere, blending the elegance of the Roaring Twenties with dreamlike aesthetics. A woman, dressed in a sumptuous blue and gold kimono with traditional motifs, stands pensively before a large octagonal mirror with lines typical of Art Deco. Lit by the warm glow of a carved table lamp and by the cool beams of the moon that pass through a geometric screen, the scene plays with captivating dualities. Objectively, the strength of the composition lies in its surreal narrative treatment: the mirror does not reflect the darkness of the room, but the majestic daytime vision of Mount Fuji looming over a peaceful lake. This excellent mastery of chromatic and light contrasts freezes a moment of poetic introspection, throwing a striking visual bridge between the muffled interior and the vast exterior landscape.
