Two historic Dutch nursing insignia in silver, both featuring an enameled depiction and a diameter of about 3 cm.
The first insignia bears the inscription “WET ZIEKENVERPLEGING” and shows a cross with a stork at the center. This type was awarded to nurses who earned the Ziekenverpleging A diploma with an additional note for midwifery. The stork refers to this specialization. The insignia is equipped with a safety chain.
The second insignia bears the inscription “WET ZIEKENVERZORGING” and has a stylized flower in polychrome enamel. This type was worn within the broader medical care and training.
Both insignia originated following the Wet op de Ziekenverpleging (after 1921) and were worn as official recognition marks within the profession. They were manufactured by Koninklijke Begeer.
