Handwritten illuminated Quran (Mushaf) – Ottoman tradition – 19th century – complete
Description
Offered is an authentic, fully handwritten Quran (mushaf) from the 19th century, crafted according to the Ottoman calligraphic tradition.
The manuscript is written in a neat Naskh script in black ink, with red diacritical marks and recitation indications (tajwīd/waqf). The whole is preceded by a richly illuminated opening composition (al‑Fātiḥa) and concluded with the short final surahs in decorative format.
It concerns a complete copy of all 114 surahs, from al‑Fātiḥa to an‑Nās.
Dating and origin
Dating: ca. 1820–1880 (19th century)
Origin: presumably Ottoman world (Anatolia / Balkan / Levant)
Language: Classical Arabic
Script: Naskh
There is no colophon (maker’s mark) present, which is common for Qur’ans intended for daily use and education.

Black main text with red reading and pronunciation markings
Round verse markers
