Saiva painting, that is, Shaivite, which was used for prayers while traveling.
A figure of Shiva is depicted with two Brahmins or priests fanning him with yak-tail fly-whisks. In front of him a white cow or Nandi. The bronze cap is missing.
The ascetic figure of naked Shiva (if this is not a Jain jiva) appears seated in meditation on a throne of a purplish color and with a halo around the head. The painting is of excellent workmanship, as can be seen in the care given to the drawing of the feet and hands, also in the liveliness of the expressions on the faces. It has suffered some deterioration in the central area of the deity’s body.
