The characters depicted are captured casually, not posing.
started in 2003 and still in progress), in which the cities are declinated as immense reading rooms
whose boundaries, embracing stairs, walls, alleys and monuments, easily become refuges
in which to abandon oneself to one's preferred authors. Montecucco manages to bring out
that gentle, malleable atmosphere ready to welcome and tend to the reader, preserving the intimacy of the
most sweet moment from the chaos of the cities.
In the case of the images presented by Montecucco, the artist has managed to give an additional meaning
to his works which have been strengthened by the concept of reading, and thus of Culture.
The photography with its casual readers takes center stage in the architectures and the magnificent works
of art scattered through our art cities, merging with them to create an intimate and silent dialogue
between man, art and thought.
The characters depicted are casually caught, while they are absorbed in reading, often with their backs turned and constantly unaware of being part of a work of art.
Claudio Montecucco tells his project using the words of Robert Doisneau:
"What I was trying to show was a world where I would feel good, where people would be kind,
where I would find the tenderness I hoped to receive. My photos were like proof that this world can exist."
