Cutlery set - .950 silver

Elegant French 950 silver-plated carving set with a decorative handle. Raised relief decoration.
Known in France as “manche à gigot,” a French table utensil used to hold the bone of a leg of lamb or ham while it is being sliced.
The device works by gripping the bone with the metal “claws.” The user then tightens the screw to secure the bone firmly, allowing the piece of meat to be held by the ornate handle without dirtying the hands.
Very common in late 19th-century France.

In good overall condition, as visible in the photos, with normal signs of use and aging.
