Description from the seller
Yves explores the relationship between humanity and the cosmos, with either a vision toward the galaxies or toward the Earth seen from space. Originating from the series “The Earth Seen from Above,” this work is inspired by a photograph taken from the International Space Station.
Painting the Earth from space is about questioning our place: are we observers… or passengers of a world in transformation?
From orbit, borders disappear. Only strata, fractures, and lines of energy remain.
In The Earth in Palette, Yves Weiler transposes this vision into a sensitive cartography where red bands cross the canvas like ribbons of fire or invisible flows linking territories.
Materials layer, erode, collide. Mineral ochres, calcite whites, bluish flashes and crimson magmas dialogue in a vibrant tension.
The work teeters between pure abstraction and geological memory: it evokes both the drift of continents, the planet’s internal heat, and the lines traced by humankind.
Seen from afar, a powerful and almost architectural structure.
Up close, a thriving, organic, living territory.
Painting the Earth from space is to reveal its fragility and its strength —
a world with no visible borders, yet traversed by deep forces.
The canvas is composed and created with multiple techniques to achieve its renditions and pay homage to the beauty and fragility of the Earth.
The discreet signature, a simple W in the shape of the Cassiopeia constellation, allows for exhibitions according to the 4 orientations. The hanging system also enables this.
Artist-painter and engineer by training in the space industry, at the border between art and science,
For his original creations, Yves has received a Certificate of Artistic Merit from the prestigious Luxembourg Art Prize from 2021 to 2025.
The canvas will be carefully packed by the artist himself to guarantee its integrity during shipment.
