Description from the seller
Rached Rassaa
As with many painters drawn to the timeless charm of the Medina of Tunis, I, in turn, have succumbed to the magic of its alleys, seeking to capture that light and architecture that continually inspire artists around the world.
This painting is an oil on canvas, depicting a picturesque alley scene, typical of the Medina of Tunis. Its elongated vertical format emphasizes depth and the height of the architectural structures.
I have used a markedly foreshortened perspective. The eye is naturally drawn from the paved foreground to the back of the alley, guided by the repetition of the semicircular arches. Three successive arches rhythm the space. They create a play of shadow and light while structuring the verticality of the painting.
The paving is detailed with touches of gray, white and beige, suggesting stones worn by time that reflect a diffuse light.
This is a work that invites travel and serenity, capturing the architectural essence and the peaceful atmosphere of Tunis's old historic quarters.
The painting will be delivered on a stretcher with a certificate of authenticity.
Possibility of differences in color between photos and reality.
