“Quietude” is an intimate work executed in red chalk, a technique that lends the drawing its warmth and depth. The depicted landscape seems suspended in absolute calm. In the foreground, a powerful tree unfolds its branches with a soothing presence, structuring the space and guiding the viewer’s gaze naturally.
In the background, a stone bridge and a few sketched buildings suggest a discreet village, almost fading into a soft, silent atmosphere. The red-chalk treatment heightens the sensitive dimension of the scene, between memory and present moment.
