AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

LA RUBIA is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that celebrates the spontaneous charm of surprise and the universal language of feminine expression.

The protagonist, with a retro air and pin-up aesthetics, appears captured in that precise moment when unexpected news awakens astonishment, curiosity, and a touch of playful incredulity. The texts “WOW!” and “Oh really?” turn the image into a nearly cinematic scene, as if the viewer had interrupted a conversation mid-revelation.
The blue polka-dot dress, the carefully wavy blonde hair, and the white flower in the hairstyle reinforce the nostalgic nod to American advertising and illustration of the 1950s, while the thick black outlines and the vibrant color place the work firmly in the contemporary pop universe.

Beyond its decorative character, LA RUBIA speaks of the theatricality of simple emotions: surprise, flirtation, and the ability to turn a minimal reaction into a memorable scene.

It is a fresh, fun, and luminous work, designed to spread dynamism and personality to any space.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
