Jose Manuel Mayo Peña, Pulso de Victoria, an original oil painting (37 cm by 54 cm) signed by hand, 2026, Spain, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
In this work, José Manuel Mayo captures with surgical precision and narrative sensitivity the decisive instant of speed in its maximum expression. The horse — suspended in full gallop — becomes the axis of a composition where time seems compressed, freezing a fraction of a second loaded with tension, power, and destiny.
The anatomical treatment is rigorous and expressive: the animal's musculature is resolved with notable mastery of volume and light, where tense highlights on the coat not only describe form but convey kinetic energy. Each plane of the body suggests contained strength and simultaneous explosion, while the suspended legs reinforce that sense of fleeting weightlessness that defines great races.
The rider, leaning forward in perfect synchrony with the beast, does not compete for the protagonism of the horse, but integrates as an extension of its impulse. The economy of details in the background — solved with loose brushwork and diffuse atmosphere — strategically emphasizes speed, avoiding distractions and directing the gaze directly to the core of action.
Mayo demonstrates here a solid understanding of movement and sports narrative, elevating an equestrian scene to a pictorial language of high intensity. The work is not only a representation of a race, but a metaphor of momentum, ambition, and the instant in which everything is defined.
“Pulse of Victory” possesses a strong presence and an immediate reading, qualities highly valued in the market of contemporary figurative art. A piece particularly attractive to collectors seeking dynamism, technique, and a theme charged with competitive energy.
The work is carefully shipped protected in a transport tube to ensure its optimal conservation.
