AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique sterling silver (925) dressing mirror, Birmingham hallmarks, year 1909, an elegant example of Edwardian-era English craftsmanship.

The mirror has a total length of 24 cm and an oval head about 13.3 cm wide, with a reflecting surface of about 12 cm in diameter. The handle, harmoniously proportioned, reaches a maximum width of about 4 cm, making the piece balanced and pleasant to hold.

The back is fully decorated with a refined fleur-de-lis motif (stylized lilies) arranged on elegant vertical bands. In the center is a decorative cartouche with a wreath and bow in relief, typical of the Edwardian style, originally intended for a possible monogram. Inside the cartouche light engraved emblems are visible, now partly worn but still discernible. The decoration is made with repoussé technique and hand finishing, imparting depth and quality to the details.

The front is also finely worked: the handle features coordinated fleur-de-lis motifs that continue down to the base of the mirror head, while the front edge of the frame is undecorated with fleur-de-lis and presents a more sober and elegant finish, creating a pleasant visual contrast.

The mirror is authentic for its period, set in a frame with a worked edge. It shows three small black specks due to natural aging of the silvering, a characteristic of antique mirrors. There is also a slightly more blurred spot, while the rest of the reflective surface is in excellent condition, as shown in the photo.

The silver is in overall excellent condition, with no loss, breakage, or significant scratches. The central cartouche shows a slight internal working visible, not a defect but a feature of the original finish.

Authentic early 20th-century object, elegant and decorative, perfect for collectors or as a refined furnishing element.

Shipping: careful packaging, insured shipping with tracking. Home delivery or to a pickup point.
