Description:

This work belongs to the series Suspended Horizons, in its more rarefied and atmospheric development. In the Evanescences branch, painting manifests itself through light glazes and transparent stratifications, creating spaces of suspension and silence.

The composition revolves around a luminous horizontal line, thin and vibrant, crossing the surface like a perceptual threshold. Around it, color expands into fluid fields built on a palette of turquoise, deep grays, and milky whites, creating a balance between light and depth.

The color overlays define a space that is not described but suggested, where more intense zones coexist with rarefied areas, maintaining an ethereal and continuously transforming quality.

Serena Nostalgia evokes an intimate and peaceful dimension: an inner landscape where the gaze may linger, letting itself be carried by a gentle, undefined memory.

The technique used involves applying color to unprimed cotton canvas, a choice that allows natural absorption of the pigments and contributes to the soft, organic rendering of the work. For this reason, traces of color may be visible also on the back of the canvas.

Project Statement
Concept Series – Suspended Horizons

My painting journey devoted to Suspended Horizons is based on research born from the encounter between water and intuition. In these canvases, the fluid matter shapes interior landscapes: imagined visions that do not represent real places, but states of mind, perceptual thresholds, and fragments of ephemeral beauty.

The surface develops through light stratifications, transparencies, and rarefied fields, evoking silence, waiting, and the breath of a suspended time. In some works, essential marks emerge — stylized blooms, floating petals, reflected trees — symbolic presences that amplify the meditational and dreamlike dimension without imposing a defined narrative.

The series is configured as a process in becoming, open to gestural and formal variations, faithful to a poetics of the unspoken and the threshold. Within this research three expressive modes take shape, which are not closed categories but movements of the same inquiry.

- Evanescences -

In "Evanescences" the matter dissolves and retracts. The image appears as a distant memory, a barely grasped vision, where the landscape becomes rarefied, unstable, suspended between presence and disappearance.

- Presences -

In "Presences" the painting thickens and takes shape. The matter emerges with greater intensity, yet retaining a dream-like quality, like a form that reveals itself without ever fully defining itself.

- Apparitions -

In "Apparitions" light emerges from dark depths. Space becomes more intimate, and the horizon becomes a distant threshold, a direction toward which the gaze tends, guided by a luminous presence that manifests and withdraws at the same time.

Artist Statement

My work explores the fluid nature of water and its ability to generate forms, movement, and light.

Through the use of watercolors, acrylics, inks, and glazes, I translate this energy into abstract visions that bring silence, mystery, and introspection.

I paint interior landscapes: suspended horizons, reflections, blooms. Images that do not represent real places, but perceptual states balanced between appearance and dissolution.

I let the water guide the process, embracing imperfections and fleeting traces as an essential part of the work.

My research moves between lightness and matter, keeping an open space for interpretation.

Each work invites slowing down and breathing with the eyes.
