Medsan hand-signed original 40 × 40 cm giclée titled Wandering Castle (歩く城), a UNIQUE EDITION, dated 2026.
Description from the seller
With this square-format artwork, Medsan pays spectacular homage to the dreamlike universe of Studio Ghibli, and more specifically to the film Howl's Moving Castle. Continuing his exploration of an aesthetic that imitates classical oil painting (impasto technique), this giclée offers an epic, textured vision where pop culture meets the tradition of landscape painting (fūkeiga).
The theatrical composition opens with a solitary traveler, wearing a traditional straw hat (kasa) and cloaked, kneeling at the edge of a vertiginous cliff. His gaze guides us toward the central figure of the canvas: the imposing mechanical, ambulant castle. This steampunk fortress, forged from a heterogeneous assembly of towers, giant gears, smokestacks, and metal legs, seems to float above a sea of fluffy clouds. The background teems with fantastical and narrative details: a majestic Asian dragon cleaving the skies, a Renaissance-inspired flying ship, and verdant hills terraced with windmills, all bathed in the powerful rays of a rising sun.
The visual impact of the work rests on the contrast between the precision of the castle’s mechanical elements and the broad, expressive painterly touch of the surrounding scenery. The color palette, rich in warm tones (gold, browns, ochres) contrasted with the blues and grays of the clouds and mist, gives the whole piece an atmosphere tinged with nostalgia and mystery.
A masterful piece, at the crossroads of fantasy and classical art, ideal for adding a narrative, epic, and deeply textured dimension to a contemporary interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Establishing itself as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work influenced by cinema and realism. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive search, mixing abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist.
