Homer's Odyssey in Greek, ALDUS 1524

ODYSSEIA. ULYSSEA, Batrachomyomachia, Hymni XXXII. Aldus sl sd (Venice, 1524)
At the colophon: Venetiis in aedibus Aldi, et Andreae Asulani Soceri. M D. XXIIII. Mense Aprili.
Volume in-8, fully collated 251 leaves (1 f.) (A-Z8, A-H8, I4).
Binding: full granite calf leather from the 18th century, spine with 5 raised bands with compartments and interspaces decorated with panels and fleurons, title piece in red morocco. Water stain on the first leaves and headpieces damaged.
This is the third and final Aldine edition of the Odyssey, after those of 1504 and 1517.
Dedication to Jérôme Aleandre (1480-1542), rector of the Sorbonne, chancellor of the bishop of Liège, prefect of the Vatican Library, prosecutor against Luther at the Diet of Worms (1521), and cardinal named by Paul III (1538).
