Golden wooden frame in antique Baroque style dating to 1940–1950, outer 35.5 x 40.5 cm with an inner opening of 12.5 x 17 cm, made in Italy for a single small artwork, in very good condition with minor signs of wear, and featuring a signed interior artwork by Giovanni Prassi (Naples, 1945).
Description from the seller
Beautiful decorative gold-toned wooden frame, designed to elevate a small work and make it visually important.
There is an interesting contrast: the richness of the frame and the intimate, almost sketch-like, size of the painting.
It conveys a sense of an “antique” object, even though it is probably not very old but a 20th-century production in a certain style.
The work inside is signed
Giovanni Prassi, Neapolitan School (Naples, 1945) is a contemporary Italian painter, known for his impressionist style tied to the Neapolitan tradition. Specializing in landscapes, scenes of everyday life and portraits, his oil-on-canvas or cardboard works regularly appear at Italian auctions since 2005, representing glimpses of life and nature.
Biography and Style
Origins: Born in Naples in 1945.
Style: His production falls within Neapolitan Impressionism, characterized by a lively use of color and brushstrokes that capture light, often depicting market scenes, marine landscapes, or traditional costumes.
The complete framed painting will be shipped perfectly packaged and with tracking.
