Oil on canvas, 80 x 80 cm, a unique original work by Le Yack titled La Maison Volante, signed and dated 2023, produced in France.
Description from the seller
Oil painting. Unique work. Hand-made canvas, oil and acrylic paint. 80x80 cm
A French master's house — two facades, one cream, one blue, slate roofs, brick chimneys, ancient trees — floats in a summer sky populated by sculpted white clouds. A dirt road leaves the front door and disappears into the void. The lawn is green. The trees are in full leaf. Everything is perfect, and everything is up in the air.
Le Yack signs here his most directly Magritte-inspired work — but without the Belgian coldness. This flying house is French, bourgeois, familiar. It has been seen somewhere in the Loire or in Normandy. And it is precisely because it is so recognizable, so anchored in a shared memory, that its takeoff is so unsettling. The house has decided to leave. The road leads nowhere. And yet everything is calm.
