Original oil on canvas by Le Yack, titled Sunglasses at Night - 100% Handmade! - unique work, 60 x 60 cm, signed, France, 2023.
Description from the seller
Oil painting. Unique work. Hand-stretched canvas, oil and acrylic paint. 60x60 cm
In a Parisian café with dim lights, a blonde woman sits alone at a table. She wears black sunglasses — inside, it’s evening. Her hand supports her chin. A glass of whisky waits on the table. Behind the window, the street shines under the lampposts, a pedestrian passes by. Her reflection in the glass doubles her — same posture, same enigma.
Le Yack builds an image of chosen solitude, or perhaps endured — impossible to decide. Sunglasses worn at night in a café are the most beautiful disguise: they hide the eyes while drawing all eyes. The reflection in the glass creates a melancholic eggshell effect. It’s a Hopper painting reinvented in Paris, with one more and one less ounce of hope.
