Description from the seller
Shigeru Hasegawa (Japan, 1963) worked in March and April 2025 in the guest studio of the Van GoghHouse. Hasegawa created paintings here based on the woodcuts of Utagawa Hiroshige, by whom Vincent van Gogh was also strongly inspired.
Shigeru Hasegawa completed his master's degree in 1988 at the Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music and moved to Germany in 1989. Later he studied at De Ateliers in Amsterdam, where Marlene Dumas also studied. Until 2004 he commuted between Japan and Europe. Recently he exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and in 2026 at the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art in Nagoya.
Van Gogh AiR Charity Auction
The Van GoghHouse invites artists to come and work for a period in Vincent's birthplace, Zundert. They literally step in the footsteps of Van Gogh here, and that yields remarkable results. The artists donate works that are auctioned for the benefit of the Van Gogh artist-in-residence program.
Before and during the auction period, the works will be exhibited at the Van GoghHouse. You can view the works there and afterward here as well. You will receive notification about the auction afterwards.
