A J. Zwart (1903-1981) - Landschap

A.J. Zwart 1903-1981

Arie Zwart began painting at a young age and, after his training at the The Hague Academy, he faced a nomadic life in a caravan after his marriage. It was mainly because of this nomadic life that there arose much interest in his paintings, which he sold quickly. After he had received an inheritance he had a houseboat built and with "De Trekschuit" he could explore the entire country, painting at various locations.

Especially his travels to France and Spain certainly played a role in the interest in his painting art.

In the last years of his life he lived with his wife in the Rosa Spierhuis in Laren.
