Description from the seller
AUTHOR
Francoise Joly (XX) French painter. Not many biographical details, active in the Costa Azzurra area in the first half of the 20th century.
DESCRIPTION
"Fleurs", oil on canvas, 66x54 cm, 1922. Signature, title and date on the verso.
In the center of the scene, a vase in vitreous tones holds a lush bouquet of cream-colored roses, whose petals saturated with light seem to vibrate on the canvas thanks to a dense, tactile brushwork. Beside them, deeply purple irises rise proudly, introducing a deep chromatic note and a vertical push to the composition. On the left, resting on a dark wooden surface, a warm-toned orange lies on a white ceramic plate decorated with delicate blue motifs, visually balancing the floral mass and creating a chromatic counterpoint between complementary colors.
From a technical point of view, the artist adopts a vibrant and visible brushstroke that inherits the Post-Impressionist lesson, giving the surface a tactile vitality particularly evident in the drapery of the background. This very backdrop, composed of a vertically striped fabric in tones of purple, orange and emerald green, creates a rhythmic and dynamic play that enhances the plasticity of the foreground objects. This work fits perfectly within the line of the French School of the 1920s, a period characterized by a return to figuration and a poetics of domestic intimacy. The composition does not seek only verisimilitude, but celebrates the joy of color and light, transforming a simple daily corner into a harmonious explosion of visual energy.
CONDITION REPORT
Good overall condition. Work intact in every part with vivid and legible chroma and brushwork. The photo of the painting inserted in an environment is generated with artificial intelligence, and should be considered purely illustrative. Only the remaining photos are valid, which faithfully show the object and its characteristics, both general and in detail.
Tracked and insured shipment with appropriate packaging.
